Private bass guitar lessons in Guildford
Based in Guildford, Surrey, I offer one-to-one bass guitar tuition for all ages and ability levels. At your preference I can instruct you using the Rockschool (accredited by Trinity College London) and the RGT methods and help you pass your grades.
I teach both by example and from notation (standard as well as tab) covering a range of playing styles including fingerstyle and slap, and also encourage my students to contribute towards the choice of music covered. I am able to use accompanying instruments for more proficient players. I focus on helping you develop your technique, improvisation, listening and reading skills aiming to make you a better player, musician and performer.
I started teaching privately in 2004. In addition, I have worked in Hampshire for Tribe Community Arts and for Rock Academy as a rock band coach. In 2007 I was awarded a PGCE in Music from the University of Southampton qualifying as a music teacher. I am a member of the Registry of Guitar Tutors (RGT) and the Musicians' Union (MU).
As a performer I have been gigging for over 20 years as a member of both originals and covers bands playing a variety of styles including rock, folk acoustic, funk and pop. Among others I have performed with John Roberts who currently session's for the Block Heads and members of Southampton university staff.
